In a heartbreaking turn of events, a young Alabama high school athlete has passed away following an injury sustained during a football game. Caden Tellier, a 16-year-old junior and quarterback for Morgan Academy, suffered a severe brain injury after being tackled in the third quarter of Friday night's game against Southern Academy in Selma.

Caden was swiftly airlifted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham hospital, where medical teams worked tirelessly to save him. Despite their efforts, Caden’s family announced the devastating news of his passing on social media the following day.

In their heartfelt message, the family shared, "Our beloved Caden is now with Jesus. We are immensely grateful for your prayers and will need them even more in the challenging days to come. Caden was known for his kindness, generosity, and love. In his final act of selflessness, he continues to touch lives, as his passing will save others."

Morgan Academy headmaster Bryan Oliver also expressed the overwhelming grief felt by the school community. "There are no words to capture the depth of our sorrow. Caden’s legacy will forever be etched in our hearts. He meant so much to our school, and he will never be forgotten."

In honor of Caden’s memory, Morgan Academy has decided to cancel all sports activities for the upcoming week, including the scheduled football game at Wilcox Academy.

Caden’s passing is a profound loss, not only for his family and school but also for the broader community that knew and loved him. His generosity lives on, as he was an organ donor, ensuring that even in death, he continues to give the gift of life to others.
