WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is gearing up to introduce augmented reality (AR) features for video calls on iPhones. According to WABetainfo, these new AR capabilities are part of the iOS 24.17.10.74 update, now available on TestFlight.

The update brings exciting enhancements, allowing iOS users to enjoy dynamic facial filters that can transform their appearance during video calls. A new background editing tool lets users blur or replace their surroundings with pre-set images, while a low-light mode ensures better visibility in dim environments. Additionally, the touch-up mode offers a way to smooth your appearance during calls.

One of the most convenient aspects of these features is that WhatsApp will save your customized video call settings, so you won’t have to adjust them each time you connect. Currently, these features are available to some beta testers on the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS and are expected to be widely released soon.

In other updates, Meta has revised its WhatsApp Business messaging policy, now allowing businesses in regulated sectors to send promotional messages to users in India. Additionally, WhatsApp is preparing to roll out a new "Username and PIN" feature to enhance privacy, letting users replace their phone numbers with usernames. This feature will offer three privacy options: "Username," "Phone number," and "Username with PIN."

Stay tuned as WhatsApp continues to evolve, bringing more personalized and secure experiences to its users.
